Asia’s Top University Beckons INTI Alumna

The University of Hong Kong, Asia’s highest ranked university (QS Asian University Rankings 2010), has opened its doors to admit one of INTI Subang’s finest students, Yeoh Tze Hui, for medical studies.

Yeoh, 19, who had always aspired to be a doctor, did her A-Levels at INTI Subang. She is no stranger to high achievement; on top of her 12As for SPM, she scored 4As for A-Level. She was also an active member of the Students’ Action (STACT) Club on campus.

“Classes at INTI Subang were small, allowing for more student-lecturer and student-student interaction, and when I was in doubt all I had to do was ask,” said Yeoh. “It helped that the campus had an almost stress-free environment - no peer pressure to put on 4-inch high stilettos! What I picked up instead was self-discipline which I think is vital for achieving one’s goals.”

The Cambridge A-Level, well-known for its difficulty level but also widely accepted as an entry qualification into top universities around the world, has proven to be the programme of choice for students taking up Pre-University studies at INTI Subang.

The programme boasts not only small classes for better interaction but also supplementary revision classes without additional cost to students. A-Level students are encouraged to be independent in their search for an institution to further their studies but receive ample guidance from their respective academic departments as well as the University Placement Office which houses catalogues and data on universities worldwide.

“Tze Hui was not the only student to have made it into the finest universities around the world; others before her have gone on to the Top 50 universities such as University of Queensland, University of Melbourne, Imperial College, National University of Singapore, Manipal College and others,” said Dr Suseela Balakrishnan, Director for Pre-University studies at INTI Subang.

“The emphasis we placed on their development and educational environment has certainly played an important role in the success of our alumni,” said Joyce Yuen, President of INTI Subang. “They are an inspiration to their juniors to continue on the path of success.”
