Career Talk at INTI Sheds Light on Surviving Career Competition

The need to stand out from the crowd has never been more important in today’s highly competitive job market. Employers are ever on the lookout for individuals with the potential to make a difference in an organization and first impressions are often critical.

This was part of the message delivered by Ernie Chen, Group CEO of ATCEN Group to students at INTI Subang. His was the first in a series of talks by guest speakers held in conjunction with the college’s upcoming Career Fair on 23rd June 2010.

“It’s important to create an appearance and personality that differentiates you from other candidates that walk into an interview room,” said Chen who also stressed the importance of leaving a good impression and having a unique selling personality.

His talk on “Last One Standing: Surviving the Career Competition” was interlaced with factual quips that opened up the minds of the audience to views and perceptions other than their own.

The challenge to mould students into dynamic individuals who will stand out among their peers has been taken up early by INTI Subang and other institutions of the INTI Education Group.

“Ernie’s talk indirectly reinforces the concepts behind INTI’s Enrolment to Employment (E2E) initiative which looks at employability from a holistic approach involving the industry and self,” said Joyce Yuen, President of INTI Subang. “We conduct various activities on campus such as Career Fair to bring about self-awareness leading to students’ development of skills to meet industry’s needs.”

INTI Subang’s Career Fair is supported by prominent organizations including Great Eastern, Maybank, Star Publications, Prudential, TNT Express, KPMG, Scope International, AirAsia, Contact Singapore, Jobstreet, IBM, Public Bank, Dun & Bradstreet Malaysia, HP, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Genting Malaysia. GTI Publications is the official graduate careers partner for the event. The fair is open to INTI students and the public.

The E2E activities at INTI Subang are organized by the Career Development Centre (CDC) which was formed in 2004 to work with various departments within the college as well as industry to realize INTI’s vision of employability. Activities run by CDC include career talks, career fairs, industrial visits, and many others.

INTI Subang is a part of the INTI Education Group and Laureate International Universities – the world’s largest private education network with a presence in over 23 countries, with more than 43 accredited universities and 130 campuses, serving over 600,000 students globally.
